Downwind SUP foiling is fun and very challenging, this is what I learned from my attempts at learning this amazing sport. After training for the M2M and M2O races on an unlimited board for the last few months, I’m getting back into foiling more and did a downwind run from Portlock to Diamond Head in good conditions. When everything works, foiling in the bumps is a dream come true, racing and connecting on fast and long bumps that would be impossible to ride at those speeds on any other craft. It is more challenging than it looks though, these are my takeaways. I hope my tips and instructions will help others to find their way in this amazing new sport.
