This is the main video from the day we refer to as “The Day of Days”, though the footage is spread out over a few videos, this one contains the biggest rides. The waves ridden by Paulo Prietto and Tyler Stanaland this day are widely regarded as the biggest waves ever caught from shore on a Skimboard. Generally when the wedge gets this size the sidewash breaks too fast to be caught from shore, but because of the unusually ideal conditions they could basically go as big as their courage allowed, and because of the high tide the waves were unusually thick and heavy. The bodysurfer seen being pulled from the water by Tyler ended up passing away a year later during a surgery trying to fix the back injury sustained this day.
